Beauty...a distorted perception?

Society puts a lot of emphasis on beauty. Look at how plastic surgery has become common practice all over the world. Are we all striving for beauty beyond a sane level? When you see pages after pages of gorgeous women do you realize how much work has been done to make them look so beautiful it's unreal?
